Radiantis sponsors Alzheimer's Research

Radiantis was extremely proud, nay, honoured, to be able to sponsor Alzheimer’s Research, at last weekend’s Great North Run in the UK. A situation which came to be because Radiantis’ very own northerner, Sarah Hurst (Materials Manager) and her husband Chris, were mad enough to enter.

“We did it! This is the third year running my husband and I have done the Great North Run,” said Sarah.

The race, which despite consistent pressure from Sarah and Chris, was eventually won by none other than Olympic and World champion Mo Farah in a time of 60 minutes (men’s section) and by Kenya’s Mary Keitany (women’s section) in a new course record.

The Great North Run is now firmly established as the world’s greatest half marathon. From just 12,000 runners at the very first staging in 1981, this year’s event saw its one millionth entrant cross the line.

Like Sarah and Chris, many entrants choose to run to raise money for charities and worthy ventures and in the last 30 years the event has helped runners raise millions of pounds.

“We were able to raise funds for Alzheimer’s Research, a cause very close to my heart as my father was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s several years ago,” added Sarah.

This year, with the support of Radiantis, I am proud to say we have raised more money than ever before – a total of 2.500 Euros, which made the hard work both during training, and on the day, all the more worthwhile. Spurred on by the thought of the donations, I managed a personal best of 2:06:22 and am encouraged to keep training for next year’s event. Many thanks to Radiantis for their support.
